CAESAR - Improving energy efficiency in small enterprises in the Alps

Project content

The introduction of effective energy efficiency measures in companies is a key condition for achieving the EU's climate goals by 2030. Companies consume about a third of the energy in the EU. Therefore, improving the energy efficiency of companies significantly contributes to the decarbonisation of the European economy, and at the same time increases competitiveness and lowers costs. Large companies are already obliged to carry out energy audits (e.g. EN16247) to identify energy saving potentials. SMEs, and especially small companies, are not very active in this area, mainly due to lack of knowledge and fear of excessive costs of measures. The CAESAR project addresses precisely this area. The project partnership will establish a network of stakeholders with the aim of introducing energy efficiency measures in small and medium-sized enterprises. The foundations will be established for the successful training of stakeholders (policy makers, companies, energy agencies, assessors) in the regions, for the implementation of measures in companies. A benchmarking system for SMEs will be established and a tool will be developed for carrying out energy audits, which will be consistent with the needs of SMEs and easy to use. Energy consultants for SMEs will be trained to use the tools.
