The CE-HEAT project aimed to establish the conditions for improving the use of excess heat and thereby contribute to increasing energy efficiency in the Central European area. The partners built the project idea on the fact that it is necessary to take a step forward in the utilization of excess heat, which to date, despite its generous potential, has remained poorly utilized. The improvement of excess heat management will be encouraged by the identification of potentials, with support tools intended for planners and investors, and the preparation of strategic directions for decision-makers.
We highlight only the most important solutions for achieving the project's goals:
- analytical and monitoring GIS platform (excess heat register), which will include information on sources of excess heat and the possibility of refreshing the data;
- preparation of tools that will help potential investors and competent institutions in setting up a common strategy for partner regions;
- integration of new approaches to the preparation of local and national energy strategies, environmental planning and energy management systems.
The most important target group of the project are energy policy makers and those responsible for environmental planning at the local or regional level. In order to ensure consensus between these and improve the relevance of solutions, local coordinating bodies are established in each region. In addition to decision-makers, the project also targets producers of excess heat, potential investors and the professional public. The relevance of the results will be tested in pilot projects in all partner countries. The transnational approach of the project will enable the exchange of experience, the improvement of competences and the quality of common solutions.
