Urban ReLeaf promotes collaboration between local communities and public authorities to address urgent climate issues related to urban greenspace planning, heat stress, and air pollution. It combines citizen-powered data ecosystems and green infrastructure to foster urban resilience. This project involves community gardens and green spaces that aim to address climate adaptation challenges through increased urban greenery, providing cities with practical examples of how gardens can help mitigate climate risks. Together with six European cities, the consortium nurture citizen-powered environmental monitoring projects that bring the benefits of nature to everyone. Their mission focuses on community placemaking, public sector innovation, and tailored strategies to reach the common goal of creating greener, more just and resilient cities for all. This project is funded under Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme. UK participants in the Urban ReLeaf project are supported by United Kingdom Research and Innovation (“UKRI”) Innovate UK.
