AGRIGO4CITIES – URBAN AGRICULTURE FOR CHANGING CITIES: GOVERNANCE MODELS FOR BETTER INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITIES AND SOCIAL INCLUSION

AgriGo4Cities focuses on promoting urban agriculture as a tool for increasing public participation and sustainable urban development in the Danube region. The project aims to improve capacities for participatory planning and implementation of urban agriculture, which contributes to sustainable food consumption by:

  • Encouraging local food production, reducing food miles.
  • Promoting community engagement in growing food, raising awareness about sustainable consumption.
  • Implementing pilot actions in cities across the Danube region, including Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Austria, and Bulgaria.

Key Objectives were to integrate urban agriculture into city planning, foster social inclusion and empower marginalized groups through participation and develop strategies and action plans for sustainable urban agriculture.

Outputs involved:

  • A common methodology of participatory UPA (Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture) helps to improve cooperation between the public and the administration, it will furthermore be translated into a transnational guide for participatory UPA
  • Training lessons and guidelines will be integrated into a training tool
  • Pilot actions in 6 regions based on the methodology of participatory UPA
  • Transnational transfer of the methodology, knowledge and experience.

The project was funded under Interreg Danube Transnational Programme.
