The foodCIRCUS project focuses on reducing food waste in schools across Central Europe by repurposing waste for various uses such as insect feeding or generating bioplastics. It involves circular economy approaches and explores innovative waste management methods to make school canteens more sustainable. The project operates in 5 countries and includes 10 partners, with a budget of €1.93 million. The project’s objective is to reduce the food waste generated by schools/kindergartens by up to 25% as a mean value, by providing food waste reduction tools and best practice practical solution to applied on site and during food preparation including redistribution of leftovers.
