The focus of this initiative is flood risk management and water conservation.
At the Green Campus University (former Borongaj Military Barracks) site, Zagreb’s local government has implemented a series of flood control and water retention measures, including the development of urban reservoirs and green infrastructure to absorb and manage stormwater. This project also integrates rainwater harvesting systems in to reduce the demand for fresh water, especially during droughts.
Municipal Leadership for this initiative is provided by the City of Zagreb’s Urban Planning and Development Department, with the objective to achieve improved flood resilience, reduced urban flooding, and enhanced water retention during periods of heavy rainfall.
